This is the third installment in the 'All I want' series. And by far is the better of the two follow up novellas in my opinion. The first in the series was Christmas and is full length. I would recommend reading them in order as it might be difficult to understand the relationship nuance without reading the first two.As someone pointed out there is a challenge with dialog because Clare wrote this in third person. Her first, Christmas, was written in first person and was much easier to follow the dialog. But! Don't let that detract you from getting this novella, it's well worth it. The is a lot of fun to be had, cringes to cringe, and ahhhhhs....

All I Want For Spring I Want Series Book 3 edition by Clare Lydon Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
It's been three months since the beginning of Holly and Tori's romance. They had been meaning to go out together on a romantic weekend a plan that had been delayed mostly because our girls were busy being awesome and helping Holly's dad (read "All I want for Valentine's" for more details). Anyways, they finally head to Rome, their chosen destination Tori couldn't be more excited. She loves vacation, Rome is a very sunny and romantic place, Italian food is amazing isn't that great? Holly, on the other side, is not buying it. All her romantic trips in the fast have ended up in catastrophe. She loves Tori so much though, she will do anything to avoid the same thing happens this time. Practical, cautious Holly is on command, trying to make Tori cautious as well. Will she succeed?
I've read the three installments of this wonderful series and there's something about the story that I truly love the characters are not perfect. They're human, VERY human and so they act. In real life, that is exactly what makes us go wrong sometimes, but hey, you learn from your mistakes. Holly and Tori do that too. What I also like a lot is that you get to see how the characters romance evolves. Being in a new relationship is great; as time goes by, it is still amazing, only in a different way. The level of intimacy you get while being with someone is something Clare captures well, mostly in the second and third book. I loved how she wrote the scenes were you get to see the high level of intimacy and trust between Holly and Tori.
It is an entertaining, romantic and realistic novella that you will enjoy reading. It will make you smile and melt your heart. A winning combination, isn't it?
To start, I want to say that I was given an advanced copy of this book in exchange for a review. I want to add that it's very rare for me to give a 5 star rating to don't take my 4 on this as a sign that the book is not good, because it is. I had previously read the first two in the series so I knew what to expect from this one and it didn't disappoint. I felt that All I Want For Spring was a nice continuation of the trials and antics found within Tory and Holly's budding relationship. So if you're looking for a little romance, seasoned with a dash of humor and a pinch of angst, this lighthearted piece is for you. But, to better understand their history and references, you really should read the first two before this one.
My one issue (and it's a small one because I clearly like the series enough to read 3 now) is that sometimes I have a hard time telling the characters apart in their back and forth dialogue. And I've had to reference the first book a few times to remember family members and history, but all in all it's a nice light read. Thank you for delivering a fun new story Clare, keep up the good work and I'll look forward to the next one!
Difficulty/Seriousness light read
Likability of characters Definitely. Fun, funny, and fully of foibles.
Range of emotion Average range for this type of story. Full of humor, angst, love and drama.
Length Just a few hours for a fast reader, maybe twice as long for an average person. A nice little snack! )
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. This was an enjoyable, quick read and I can confirm that (having not had a chance to read the first two yet) it is possible to understand and appreciate as a standalone book. The characters of Holly and Tori are warm and believable. They feel like people you would know in real life, and in fact, this story is like something I can imagine a friend relating after returning home from a trip. Italy is always a nice setting, and I enjoyed the tour vicariously while reading this. Everything that happens to them while there, all the little things that test their relationship and ultimately prove that it is strong, are typical things you can imagine happening to a slightly unlucky friend. All in all, very fun.
There are two reasons I chose 4 stars instead of 5 and they are It's hard to tell Tori and Holly apart in some of the scenes, to the point I was really confused who was doing what. Maybe this would be less an issue if I knew the characters better from the earlier books, but I do think it's an issue that makes it a little harder to immerse yourself. And more importantly, as a standalone story I felt like not quite enough happened in this book in terms of story arc or relationship development to let it really stand on its own feet. I felt that the things that did happen didn't quite challenge the characters enough or allow them to grow as much as they might have. My guess is that when all the parts are done, if someone reads the whole series as a single "book" that it wouldn't be as noticeable as they are sort of in the "honeymoon" period. But I think I was waiting for the big reveal or the set up for a seismic shift, and it never quite came. However, it was solid and makes me want to read the first ones, too!
Finally, off to Rome and for the first time together abroad. Tori has mapped out a plan to see as much as they could. Holly wasn't sure about this trip because all her holidays always ended in disaster. And indeed, nothing was going according to their plan. Is their relationship strong enough to survive this trip? Again, an awesome sequel in this series.
This is the third installment in the 'All I want' series. And by far is the better of the two follow up novellas in my opinion. The first in the series was Christmas and is full length. I would recommend reading them in order as it might be difficult to understand the relationship nuance without reading the first two.
As someone pointed out there is a challenge with dialog because Clare wrote this in third person. Her first, Christmas, was written in first person and was much easier to follow the dialog. But! Don't let that detract you from getting this novella, it's well worth it. The is a lot of fun to be had, cringes to cringe, and ahhhhhs....
